We have lots of exciting things planned for your first year at school.

In Maths we will be learning all about numbers, counting by saying numbers, recognising numbers, counting objects and representing numbers. Later we will begin to add and subtract numbers.

We will also be learning about shapes, by recognising them all around and naming shapes.

We will begin our reading journey, by starting to learn phonics and segmenting and blending words.This will then help us to start to write sounds we know in words and later build up to writing lots of words to make a sentence. 

We have lots of fun topics to look forward to during our year, which we will leave as a surprise!!

Please try to read with your child at least 3 times a week. We are not sending books home at the moment, but you can read any books / children's magazines or comics or even signs and labels out and about. 

We are all looking forward to this year and we are excited for you to show us how much you already know.
