Free School Meals
Free School Meals
All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to have a free school meal every day without applying to the Free School Meals Scheme and regardless of family income.
Due to this, some families have not applied for the Free School Meals status from the Council. However, here at Clayton St John we have introduced some other benefits for families that are successful in applying:-
Children qualifying under the council scheme will receive:
- a uniform voucher each year
- free milk each year
- discounts on residential school trips
- and of course a free school meal every day
Check your eligibility below.

- the guaranteed element of Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
