Guided Reading
Good Morning!
This week, we have been looking at tally charts and pictograms to help us when organising our information (data).
To help make sure we are confident with this, today, you are going to use your Mathletics.
Logon to your Mathletics and complete the assignment named: Picture Graphs

Bar Graphs
Now, we have done our pictograms, we are going to move onto bar graphs.
This is what a bar graph looks like:
This is very similar to the pictogram, but it is set out a little different. It still shows me how many people chose each item.
This shows that:
- 5 people chose car
- 4 people chose bus
- 1 more person chose bike than motorbike
(3 people chose bike, 2 people chose motorbike. 3 is 1 more than 2)
- Lorry is the least popular answer
You have to read the numbers at the side carefully as sometimes they will go up in ones (like the pictograms), or sometimes they might go up in 2s, 5s or 10s)
Take a look at this pictogram:
How many people chose blueberry?
How many people chose orange?
How many more people chose banana (10) than grapes (5) ?
What is the least popular?
Now you have practised with this bar graph, try the assignment on Mathletics called: Calum graphs
