The Jewish Naming Ceremony
Read the following passage about what happens at a Jewish naming ceremony.
It is traditional for the child to receive his or her name at the first public gathering, so if the child is a girl, then she will be named at the first public reading of the Torah at the Synagogue. It is customary to keep the name secret before this. The naming ceremony usually happens withing 7 days and can take place at the Synagogue or at home. The ceremony usually involves the recitation of Psalms and blessings, short talks by the parents and words of congratulations by the Rabbi.
Compare the Jewish naming ceremony to the Christian naming ceremony by writing their similarities and differences. You could use a venn diagram to do this.
