Today we are going to focus on two questions: What is the importance of the value of love? How did Jesus teach his followers to love? I think these are particularly important at the moment as we are living through a time where we need the support of those around us!
Task 1 - How did Jesus teach his followers to love?
Read the following passage from the Bible (1 Corinthians 13, Saint Paul’s Poem of Love).
This is what Jesus teaches his followers about love. Have you ever heard this passage before? It is often read at weddings. Look again at the passage. What does it say love is? What does it say love is not? Do you agree? Why/Why not? Record your ideas and share them on the blog.
Task 2 - What is the importance of the value of love?
Let’s now think about the second question. Can you think why love is important? Think about in the current situation, why is important now to show others we care about them?
An artist named Jim Dine has created abstract art using hearts. One of his famous pieces is called ‘Four Hearts’.
I would like you to create your own version of the ‘Four Hearts’ image. Then in each of the hearts either: write down your ideas about why love is important or recreate your own version of the extract from the Bible we looked at in task 1. You could then display your artwork in your window to cheer up your neighbours! Don’t forget to post it on the blog as well.
