To start our brains and get them working, go to this website and have a look at the activities.

Division

Last week, we looked at multiplication and how to multiply our numbers by putting them into arrays.

e.g. 5 x 3 = This week, we are going to look at how we can use this method to help us divide.

What other words can you think of that mean divide?

Division Arrays

Just like 5 x 3 = 27 We can also use this to help us divide.

We have 27 altogether.

They have been organised into 3 rows. (Shared into 3 rows / divided into 3 rows)

So..... 27 ÷ 3

Then we need to count how many are in each row........ 5

So.... 27 ÷ 3 = 5 (in each row, they get 5 each)
